Tesco, Morning Lane, Hackney
Client: Tesco Stores Limited and Spenhill Regeneration Limited
Authority: London Borough of Hackney
We led a multi-disciplinary team on a proposal to redevelop the site of the existing Tesco store in Morning Lane, Hackney with a high-density, mixed-use scheme. This followed an invitation to Alsop Verrill by officers of the London Borough of Hackney to work with the Council on a positive regeneration scheme for the site following the identification of the site for redevelopment within the Hackney Central Area Action Plan.
The proposed development by Tesco Stores Limited comprised an 11,000 sq m Tesco Extra foodstore, independent retail units, office space and 113 residential units. We co-ordinated the planning application, including preparation of Retail Impact Assessment, Planning Statement, Statement of Community Involvement. We also co-ordinated the Environmental Statement, preparing impact assessment chapters on Socio-Economic Impacts and Crime and Safety.
