We successfully appealed the refusal of planning permission by the London Borough of Southwark for the change of use of an upper floor unit from industrial use to a place of worship. The main issues were the loss of employment floorspace and the impact on parking and congestion. We successfully demonstrated to the Appeal Inspector that the income from renting the upper floor to the church would contribute to the viability of the printing business operating on the ground floor, and that the different timings of the industrial and religious operations meant that these uses were compatible, and would not give rise to parking or traffic problems.
